Identity Theft Protection
Are You Red Flag Compliant?
May 28, 2009

REGISTER NOW!
Over the past year, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) implemented a new ruling, the Red Flag Rules, for preventing identity theft within organizations that offer “credit”. Other state and federal regulations have also recently been put into place to assure that all businesses, including associations, are protecting data. Bottom line: your organization is accountable to meet the requirements of the recent FTC rules by May 1, 2009.
The first step in demonstrating a good-faith effort for compliance is to train one or more individuals within your organization to be your identity theft compliance officer(s). Plus, is it time for you to offer this service to your members? MSAE in partnership with Identity Theft LOSS Prevention, LLC is offering identity theft compliance training.
At this working session attendees will:
- Receive the Information Security Officer (ISO 101) training
- Perform a mapping exercise to take inventory of confidential and sensitive information
- Conduct a risk assessment to help expose unforeseen vulnerabilities
- Learn how to conduct the employee training
- Learn how to implement a system for your business to help prevent a breach
- Receive a 58-page workbook
- Receive policy guidelines and framework
- Receive documents for the ISO’s file and documents for employee’s file after training
- Receive a certificate of completion
Class size is limited since this is a working session. Register now before sessions fill up. For more information about this event, contact Nichole Tilma, CMP or call 517.332.6723.
