This program is targeted to the individual within your association office that is responsible for data and financial records.
Within the past six months new laws and regulations have been put into place to assure that all businesses, including association offices, are protecting data. You need to train someone in your office as your information security officer and you should consider training information security officers within member organizations. This is not something that organizations can put off.
Weekly stories emerge regarding personal data that is stolen or, through employee error, not safeguarded. Over 166 million records have been stolen in the past two years. The fines imposed when data is stolen or released run up to $750,000. The bottom line is that your organization is accountable to meet the requirements of the recent state legislation and show intent to comply by having policies and practices in place to protect data.
How to Protect Your Organization
The first step in demonstrating a good-faith effort for compliance is to train one or more individuals within your organization to be your identity theft compliance officer(s) through this training. MSAE in partnership with Identity Theft LOSS Prevention, LLC consultants are offering identity theft compliance officer training in a four-hour workshop.
During the training attendees will create documents that your organization can put into place the very next day. Trained individuals will then lead the mandatory employee training on the security policies and oversee that processes are in place to safeguard information within your organization.
At this working session your organization will:
- Receive the Information Security Officer (ISO 101) Training
- Perform a Mapping Exercise to take inventory of Confidential and Sensitive Information
- Conduct a Risk Assessment to help expose unforeseen Vulnerabilities
- Learn how to conduct the employee training
- Receive sample Policy Guidelines tailored to your organization
- Learn how to implement a system for your business to help PREVENT a Breach
- Receive the recommended documents for your business
This program provides savings to your organization. Personalized training is available but runs 3-4 times the price of this workshop. This session will set your organization on the right direction for compliance.
