The 2010 Census starts this month with the task of reaching everyone in the United States and encouraging them to be counted. To attain a complete and accurate count of the population, your help is needed in contacting and informing your colleagues, members and community. Census data guide critical decisions that affect this nation, from congressional representation to the allocation of federal spending. Every year, the federal government can allocate more than $400 billion to states and communities based, in part, on census data.
Especially for Michigan it is important that all citizens are counted. It is predicted that we will lose a Congressional seat. Do your part and spread the word! Every association should encourage their members to complete it. And all of your members should encourage their staff to complete the census. It can save millions of dollars to reduce sending census people to your front door. The census form is short...only 10 questions.
Do your part and encourage everyone to “Mail it back”. Click here for additional resources to help you spread the word to your members. Click here to view the video.
