EduTours provide exciting ways to learn outside of a typical conference setting. Attendees will venture into the city and visit local small businesses for a hands-on look at the unique practices that make them successful. Seating is limited with only 30 spots available for each EduTour.

All buses will depart at 8:00 a.m. and return by 5:00 p.m.

Once an abandoned industrial site, the host of ORGPRO 2017 has now become the crown jewel of the city by focusing on their stakeholder and customer experiences. While enjoying breakfast, attendees will learn how collaboration from various entities led to a successful outcome of a major redesign of the Port Huron shoreline.  By strategically outlining the value of the different groups you’ll learn how integration of economic, social and environmental considerations all came into play.

Great Lakes Maritime Center

While visiting the Center, you’ll hear commercial diver, Wayne Brusate’s, captivating story about how he and a team of divers developed a project plan with goals and objectives to search for gold and artifacts in Lake Huron. Instead they stumbled upon the lost shipwreck of The Regina, which went down in the “Great Storm” in 1913.  Accordingly, they revised their project plan. This site features an ice cream break.

Huron Lady II - A Sightseeing Cruise of Port Huron
3:00 - 4:30 p.m.

Attendees will conclude their day by hopping aboard the Huron Lady II. You’ll hear firsthand about how this attraction examines risks through the application of industry best practices and how they developed and practiced an emergency response plan in the event of a crisis. It will help you create one for your organization.

EduTour #1: Business Planning

Fort Gratiot Light House & VinoMondo Winery
9:30 - 11:30 a.m. 

Take in the glorious morning view of Lake Huron and the Blue Water Bridge from atop! Relying heavily on volunteers, you’ll discover the Light House staff’s secrets to maximizing their volunteer recruitment plan, retaining and motivating them, and providing training to align with their goals and objectives.  A wine tasting presentation, appetizers and a bottle of wine will also be provided by local wine-makers of VinoMondo Winery. Wear comfortable flight shoes to safely enjoy the tour climb.

Tour the art galleries in this distinctive venue and then let your creative juices flow as you create your very own art project.  You’ll learn how this community arts incubator works with their stakeholders to meet their community’s expectations.
