EduTours

EduTours provide fun ways to learn outside of a classroom setting. People learn by experiencing what others are doing and borrowing their brilliance. Each of these EduTours will provide insight on how others have developed unique capabilities. Seating is limited with only 30 spots available for each EduTour. 

All buses will depart at 8am and return by 5pm


Earn CEU Credits

This experience is worth 4 hours of CEUs and focuses on CAE Domain 3: Membership Engagement and CMP Domain G: Meeting or Event Design.

EduTour #1

Begin with breakfast at Freighters Eatery and Taproom and hear about the enthralling history of how the Blue Water Convention Center property and shoreline was once an abandoned industrial site and has now become the crown jewel of the city.  Take in a glorious morning view of Lake Huron and the Blue Water Bridge from atop the Fort Gratiot Light Station Tower.  Tour the grounds and other historic buildings including the original Fort Gratiot Hospital and the gift shop.  Wine tasting presentation provided by local wine-makers of Vinomondo Winery.  Enjoy lunch and a specialty drink at the Raven Café where an eclectic array of books and art line the walls boasting an energetic atmosphere and a menu full of flavor!  Head over to the Great Lakes Maritime Center for a sweet treat and hear scuba-diver, Wayne Brusate’s captivating story of finding the lost shipwreck of The Regina, which went down in a massive storm in 1913.  Then hop aboard the Huron Lady II for a sightseeing cruise.

EduTour #2

Begin with breakfast at Freighters Eatery and Taproom and hear about the enthralling history of how the Blue Water Convention Center property and shoreline was once an abandoned industrial site and has now become the crown jewel of the city.  Tour the art galleries of Studio 1219, a community arts incubator, then let your creative juices flow to create an art project.  Lunch will take place at the Culinary Institute of Michigan along with a presentation by the culinary students.  Head over to the Great Lakes Maritime Center for a sweet treat and hear Wayne Brusate’s captivating story of finding the lost shipwreck of The Regina, which went down in a massive storm in 1913.  Then hop aboard the Huron Lady II for a sightseeing cruise.
