Behind The Scenes 

Kalamazoo is a city rich with creative culture where your sense of adventure extends from the outdoors onto your plate and into your glass. We will explore what this energetic city has to offer including how unconventional air space, local establishments and a brewery which is braking recodes every year can all up your meeting planning game!    

The EduTour provide exciting ways to learn outside of a typical conference setting. Attendees will venture into the city and visit local small businesses for a hands-on look at the unique practices that make them successful.

All buses will depart at 8:00 a.m. and return by 4:00 p.m.

Earn Continuing Education Credits 
EduTours are tentatively worth 3 CEs for CAE and CMP certification/recertification. These hours have not been submitted for pre-approval. Attendees may need to manually submit CMP hours to the EIC.

Meet Outside Lobby for Bus Ride to Breakfast

8:15 - 10:30 a.m.

We will start the day with breakfast, tours and a Meeting Planner scavenger hunt in a facility which houses over 100 historic aircraft, interactive rides, flight simulator, historic exhibits and flexible unique meeting and event space that is out of this world.

Explore Kalamazoo!
11:00 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

See how when you and your meeting attendees shop local as a visitor and tourist it creates a positive impact in the local economic. The Downtown area is vibrant and energetic- we will cut you loose to Discover!  Provided will be  a list of local shops & vendors who offer  Michigan and Kalamazoo made products as well as bars, taverns and wine bars to explore. 

This portion does not count for Continuing Education.
600 Kitchen & Bar
12:30 - 1:30 p.m.

Part of the Millennium Group these folks wrote the book on Farm to Table! They care about food and where it is sourced;   bread, dairy, produce and meat…real food from real people locally, sourced from Michigan farmers and artisans.  While we enjoy lunch in this former 52,000 square foot gray-iron foundry we will see their staff and chefs at work, and learn how to do Farm to Table best!

Bell's Brewery
2:00 - 3:30 p.m.

Bell’s begun as a homebrewing store in 1983, and has been producing beer since 1985.  From 2010 to 2016, the American Homebrewers Association rated Bell's Brewery's Two Hearted Ale (an India Pale Ale) the second-best beer in the United States.  We will tour their Kalamazoo brewing facility, see production and learn how craft beers are affecting the hospitality and meeting planning industry.
