The Michigan Dyslexia Institute (MDI) has received a $14,000 Good Neighbor Citizenship Company Grant award from the State Farm Companies Foundation to provide training to parents and teachers on how to recognize the signs of dyslexia. Historically, MDI has relied on in-person training, however, with the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing requirements, the organization has pivoted to offer virtual learning opportunities.  The grant from State Farm will make it possible for MDI to provide free on-line educational videos that can be accessed by parents and teachers throughout the state of Michigan.

“We greatly appreciate the contribution from State Farm that will make it possible to provide this important resource, for parents and teachers, on how to recognize if children and youth have dyslexia in the home or classroom. Being able to identify children and youth with dyslexia is the first step to helping them receive the assistance they need to succeed“  said @Allan Blankenship, CEO, Michigan Dyslexia Institute, Lansing.

The State Farm Companies Foundation awards year-long grants through a competitive application process.
