MSAE: Tell us a little bit about your experience working with or for associations.
JT: I love the mission-driven work. You can see the results of what you do each day and how it benefits your members. It's a selfless profession that exists to better the lives and livelihoods of your members. That makes it a very rewarding experience.
MSAE: How did you first become involved with MSAE, and what motivated you to do so?

JT: My colleagues encouraged me to get more involved in both continuing education and the Diamond Awards.

MSAE: What made you want to join MSAE's Board of Directors?

JT: MSAE has given so much to my career. I'm a CEO because of this organization and the connections I've made through it during my membership. I owe it so much more than I could ever give back.

MSAE: Tell us about your family, pets, and where you call home.

JT: I live with my wife, Jessica, and daughters Isla (11) and Gia (9), in DeWitt. We have two dogs, Rosie and Zola.

MSAE: What do you do for fun or to relax?

JT: I love to watch/attend sporting events, theater, movies, reading, traveling, skiing.

MSAE: What other board work, volunteering, or side work do you do?

JT: I serve as vice president for the DeWitt Public Schools Board of Education, board member for the Michigan Association of School Boards,  and secretary for the Veterinary Medical Association Executives. I'm also a part-time Realtor for Coldwell Banker Hubbell Briarwood.

MSAE: What message or advice would you like to share with other members who might be considering getting more involved in MSAE?

JT: Do it. You won't regret it. The things you'll learn and the people you'll meet far exceed your annual dues or the time you put into it. It's those connections that will help advance your career in Michigan and beyond.
