🎉Barry Cargill, CAE, Announces Retirement

Barry Cargill, CAEBarry Cargill, CAE, president and CEO of the Michigan HomeCare & Hospice Association (MHHA), announced retirement effective June 1, 2024, marking the end of a distinguished 11-year tenure with MHHA and a 42-year career in Lansing-based association management and public policy.


Barry is renowned for his leadership and dedication to the home care and hospice industry. His career has spanned various roles, including policy advisor in the Michigan Senate, chief lobbyist for the Small Business Association of Michigan, and leadership positions as staff executive and volunteer leader with many trade associations and government.


Active with the Michigan Society of Association Executives (MSAE) since 1991, Barry earned his CAE designation in 2002, and is a graduate of the US Chamber Academy for Association Management, and Ferris State University. Barry served for several years as a faculty facilitator for the MSAE Academy of Association Management and chaired several MSAE Committees. He served on the MSAE Board, and as Chair in 2017/18.

During his time at MHHA, Cargill has been a staunch advocate for the home health industry both in Michigan and on a national level, working on legislative and regulatory initiatives to support persons with disabilities and seniors requiring long-term care. Sara Lowe, MHHA board chair, lauded Cargill's impact.
