MSAE to Auction 1350 Haslett Road Property

Blog,

As association leaders grapple with what reopening looks like for their organizations, the MSAE Board of Directors took bold action at its June meeting, voting unanimously to auction the association's headquarters located at 1350 Haslett Road in East Lansing. The board's decision reflects a commitment to investing MSAE's resources in activities that will build value for the Society's membership.

The Decision to Auction

The motion to auction the building was prompted by a recommendation from MSAE President and CEO Donna Oser, CAE, after months of research. The property was originally listed for sale in 2019 and then again in 2020. Auctioning the property now allows the Society to access the accrued equity and hedge against a further decline in the commercial real estate market. Oser summarized the decision in affirmative and straightforward terms, "In the wake of COVID, association leaders have to evaluate what's best for their organizations, in full consideration of the facts. With a sluggish commercial market and without the need for large office space, we believe an auction is the right move for MSAE, right now."

Great Opportunity for Another Association or Business

The 4,000 square foot property has ten office/workspaces, reception and waiting areas, a generous conference room, three restrooms, and a kitchen. The online auction is accepting bids now. Open houses will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 1-3 PM, and Tuesday, August 17, 4-6 PM. Online bidding ends Wednesday, August 18, at 1 PM.
