Board of Directors Call for Interest/Nominations

As Chair of MSAE's Leadership Identification and Nominations Committee, it is my honor to inform the membership that MSAE is now accepting nominations and expressions of interest to serve on our Board of Directors. This is your opportunity to help shape the future of Michigan’s association community, elevate the profession, and ensure that MSAE continues to deliver value, leadership, and innovation for years to come.

Vacancies are as follows:

  • 4 (four) At Large Seats with three-year terms 
  • 1 (one) CVB Representative with a two-year term 
  • 1 (one) AMC Representative with a two-year term

Why Serve on the Board?

As a director, you will:

  • Advance the profession – Contribute to MSAE’s strategic direction and advocacy on behalf of association leaders across Michigan.

  • Build relationships – Connect with peers and industry leaders in meaningful ways that foster collaboration and growth.

  • Strengthen governance – Ensure MSAE fulfills its mission, maintains fiduciary responsibility, and responds to the evolving needs of members.

  • Provide foresight – Help MSAE anticipate trends, disruptions, and emerging opportunities so we can better support associations in an environment of continual change and uncertainty.

  • Make an impact – Shape the programs, resources, and experiences that advance Michigan’s association community.

Expectations of Board Members

Board members are expected to:

  • Actively participate in board meetings, discussions, and decision-making.

  • Serve as ambassadors for MSAE, championing our mission and values.

  • Contribute expertise, insight, and strategic foresight to guide MSAE through change and ensure relevance to members.

  • Support MSAE’s events, initiatives, and fundraising efforts as appropriate.

  • Engaged in Michigan’s association community.

  • Committed to advancing excellence in association management.

  • Ready to embrace the responsibility of foresight, positioning MSAE to help associations anticipate and leverage change.

  • Willing to contribute time, talent, and perspective in service to MSAE.

Eligibility 

Any Regular member in good standing may be nominated. Regular members are: 

  • Association Chief Staff Executives - Serves as the top administrative and executive officer of
    a membership-based not-for-profit association or association management company.
  • Association Professionals - Serves in an executive, non-CSE role of a membership-based not-for-profit association or association management company and may have strategic, management, administrative or program responsibilities.
  • Industry Supplier/Consultant Executive - Serves as the top paid administrative and executive
    officer of a company that provides products or services to membership-based not-for-profit
    associations.
