Joanna Nelson

With 25 years of hospitality experience, Joanna has worked in a wide variety of Hotel Sales, Marketing and Operations positions with the Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn Corporation. Joanna began her career at Bavarian Inn just out of high school while attending college locally. In 2000, Joanna was promoted to Director of Sale. Shortly after taking on this position, Joanna completed the Hospitality Sales and Marketing program at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University under industry expert Howard Feiertag. In 2007 she completed her designation of Certified Meeting Professional, a designation that she still holds today.

Over the last two decades Joanna has taken on additional responsibilities at the Bavarian Inn Lodge overseeing all Advertising and Marketing, Front Desk and Reservations operations, Revenue Management, and the Bavarian Inn Perks Club (guest loyalty program). Now, as the resort’s General Manager, Joanna oversees all strategic and day-to-day operations.

Joanna is involved in several community and industry organizations. Her past Board of Director positions include: President of the Michigan Chapter of Meeting Professionals International, Vice President of Education of the Michigan Chapter of Meeting Professionals International, Advisory Board Member of Meeting Michigan, Board Member of Underground Railroad of Saginaw County and marketing committee lead for the St. Luke’s New Life Center of Flint.
