Michigan State Police EmergencyOperations Center & Lansing Shuffle Monday, December 2, 2024 | 12:50 - 5:00PM
Join your association colleagues for an exclusive tour of the Michigan State Police Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) and the 24/7 Operations Section. This is an unusual opportunity to see first-hand where state, local and federal agencies coordinate the response to a disaster, emergency or terrorist event. The governor, state director of emergency management and homeland security and other agencies direct all state resources at this center when responding to and recovering from an event. After the tour, attendees will participate in a safety presentation with Sargent Martin Miller focused on situational awareness and de-escalation techniques. Sargent Miller will discuss observation of our surroundings for armed and suspicious individuals, what to do if observed, and even explain some de-escalation techniques we can use should we be faced with a confrontation. After the tour and training, we’ll head to the Lansing Shuffle to enjoy camaraderie, refreshments, and appetizers while trying our hand at shuffleboard. Note: This course involves no hands-on demonstrations or scenario-based training. (Return to Top) |

Greater Lansing Food Bank & High Caliber KartingMonday, December 2, 2024 | 12:50 - 5:00PM This afternoon’s excursion is all about giving and getting! We’ll give to others by helping out at the Greater Lansing Food Bank with a hands-on volunteering project. Learn how the GLFB distributed a staggering 11 million pounds of food and collaborated with over 140 community partners to enhance food security in mid-Michigan in 2023. While there, Jakob Veldhuis, Volunteer Program Manager at Greater Lansing Food Bank, will help us tour the facility and share how GLFB engages volunteers in their important work. After a full afternoon of giving, we’ll get to have some fun at High Caliber Karting! We’ll gather to decompress, enjoy a drink, appetizers and have some fun throw bowling!
